Tiger Hill is a popular tourist destination placed about 11
km away from the main town of Darjeeling in the Darjeeling district

the Tiger Hill provides a visitor with astounding views of sunrise and several
Mountain peaks.
For the kind information of all the tourists, it is suggested
to wake up early as 3:30 am and relish a walk or hire a jeep earlier the day
before so that you could watch the sunset without being troubled by other
visitor. Remember that it is a popular tourist destination of Darjeeling and
remains crowded early in the morning by hundreds and hundreds of tourist. The
climb up the hill will fetch you with some of the astounding scenic vistas but
since it won’t be visible at early in the morning you may find hiring a vehicle
to reach the base of Tiger Hill as a convenient way.
After reaching the base you have to relish a short distance
to reach the spot where you will be magically attracted to watch the
sunrise.
If you visit this place early then you can witness the
crimson horizon before the sunrise, first glimpse of the sun peeking over the
snow covered mountains, sun rising like a yolk of an egg, full sunrise at the
eastern horizon and lastly the glorious views of the Mt. Kanchenjunga and
illuminated Darjeeling town. If you are lucky enough then you could also get a
distant view of Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu which adds the real stuff to re
energize and invigorate you from t he tired and hectic city life.
So, it is up to you to decide when to wake up and when to
head onward to watch the magical sunrise. After viewing the sunrise, you can
spend some serene and tranquil time by relishing long natural walks in the open
areas of the hill for further excitement and thrill.
You must bear in mind about the changing weather of
Darjeeling so carry some woolen or light woolen clothes in case of any weather
change.

Best time to Visit: The best time to visit this place to
witness some of the grandiose views is from the month of mid October to
December otherwise April to march is also an ideal time to pay a visit.
Accommodation: You can opt to stay in budget hotels,
mid range hotels and luxurious hotels according to your budget. Ghoom which is
the nearest town near Tiger Hill has some inexpensive and budget hotels or else
if you want to stay in lavish hotel then head on to the main town of Darjeeling
where you will get plenty of luxurious and mid range hotels for a sumptuous
stay. Some of the hotels in close proximity to the Tiger Hill are Silver Oaks
(about 5 km) and Dekeling Resort (6 km).
How to Reach: Once you reach Darjeeling, you can
venture to Ghoom as it is one of the popular excursions from the ‘Queen of the
Hill Stations’ and from the base of Ghoom either you can hire a vehicle or you
can trek the uphill to reach the top of the Tiger Hill.
Bagdogra Airport is the closest airport at 84 km while NJP
(New Jalpaiguri Railway Station) at about 82 km, though Siliguri Junction at
about 78 km is the nearest railhead but majority of trains don’t stop here.
