Vajrai, A Place of Beautiful Waterfalls



Vajrai, which is also known as Bhambavali, is a village located in the Sahyadri hills near Satara, in Maharashtra.
The village is located at a distance of about 27 km from the main town of Satara. Vajrai is chiefly popular for its Vajrai waterfall, which is placed at a height of about 1,840 ft above sea level. The fall is considered as one of the tallest waterfalls in India. The place is also popular among the tourists for its natural splendor and pleasant. The place is visited by thousands tourists from different parts in the country, all over the year. 

Attractions
Vajrai Waterfall- Vajrai fall is regarded as one of the tallest waterfalls in India, situated at a height of about 1,840 ft above sea level. The waterfall cascades down from a great height of about 800 ft and its sight to be cherished by the nature lovers. There are many picnic spots around this falls that adds to the popularity of this spot. 

Thoseghar Waterfall- It is the third largest waterfall in Maharashtra, which is located towards south of Vajrai Waterfall. There are other captivating waterfalls close to this fall like Sandavli waterfall, Kelavli waterfall, Vajrai waterfall and Kasani waterfall that adds to the attraction of this place. Due to the existence of numerous waterfalls in this region, the spot is a popular destination among the trekkers and nature lovers.

Forts- Vajrai is also popular among the tourists for the ancient forts located around this place.  Some of the forts that one can visit while touring this village are Vairtgad, Vasota, Chandangad, Sjinkyatara, Pandavgad and Sadashivgad. These forts are popular trekking destinations of the region. 

Boating- One can also enjoy boating on the dams or lakes located at a close distance from the place. The picturesque Vajrai waterfall is abounded by lakes, such as Urmodi, Kanher, Koyna and Kas. 

Caves- Numerous small caves located close to the Vajrai waterfall is another major attraction for the tourists visiting the village.  

Urmodi Dam- Urmodi dam is named after the Urmodi River, which is believed to originate from the Vajrai waterfall. The site is a popular picnic spot that offers some captivating views. 

Best Time to Visit
Though the place can be visited throughout the year, the best time to visit the place is during the monsoons season, when the various waterfalls of this are at their peak.

By Air:  The nearest airport to this place is in Pune, which is located at a distance of about 134 km. Local taxi services are available from the airport to the place.

By Train: The nearest station to this place is in Satara, which is located at a distance of about 27 km. Tourists can board the local cabs or even hire one from outside the station to get to the place.
