Dahanu Bordi – A Hidden Paradise

A quite seaside town located in the Thane district, Dahanu is also home to a sprawling, uncluttered beach. This beach spreads for about 17 kms ,
which surprisingly was a barren land once. This area was inhabited by Iranian settlers who are considered to be very sincere and earthy people. This place is full of fruit orchards, mostly of chickoo fruit, which adds more beauty to the environment of this place. Nestled among the majestic Arabian Sea and imperial Sahyadri mountains, this place is also quite near to the border of Gujarat. It is very neat, clean and beautiful beach which slowly merges into the lush green and natural jungle.

This is mostly a virgin beach which is free from any kind of industrialization and commercialization as it falls under the green zone. This helps to keep the environment clean and pure. The orchards in this area grow fruits like chickoo, coconut, mango, litchi, guava etc. For this reason this place is also referred to as the fruit bowl of the region and is also one of the favourite picnic spot for the locals as well as the tourists. People from all ages and walks of life come here to enjoy the beauty and charm of the magnificent beach. Besides this Bordi is also well known for its educational institutions and a lot of people also come here for adventure camps. The government is putting in a lot of effort to develop this place as a popular tourist destination.

People prefer going to this place due to its pleasant and soothing atmosphere that is filled with sparkling sea and whispering waves, the clear blue sky and the cool soothing breeze. The endless sea shore reminds you of the long journey of life ahead and keeps you motivated to go on. The amazing and graceful experience is once in a lifetime experience that should not be missed at any cost. The rich and the famous also prefer this place and own farmhouses here. They come here to take a break from their hectic life and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. This place is just about 3 hours ride from Surat or Mumbai or Nashik. Its central location makes it all the more interesting and tempting.

After a tiring week at work, coming here would just be the perfect gateway to unwind and relax. Once you are here, you can simply immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of this place or can visit other interesting places  like the Asavli Dam, Dahanu Fort, Kalpataru Botanical Garden, Bahrot Caves, Bordi Beach, Mallinath Jain Tirth Kosbad Temple, Depchari Dam, Vrindavan Studios etc. Close to Dahanu is the interesting place of Udwada which is an important place of worship for the Zoroastrians. Out here there is a large and beautiful temple which houses a sacred fire. Amazing thing about this fire is that it has been kept alive for almost thousand years.

This place is well connected by rail and roadways. The nearest airport is at Mumbai.
Best time to visit – November to March
