Tada falls is one of the top tourist attractions near
Chennai. The locals of the region generally know the falls with the name of
Ubbalamadugu falls. As there are not
much renowned trekking spots near Chennai, the trekking expedition to the falls
is very much popular among the tourists and adventure enthusiast.
The falls
which is placed in Tada town, is found in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh,
at a distance of about 1.5 km from the northern border of the state. Before
planning to visit this magnificent falls, remember that the trek is not for the
ones who are not so fond of walking on rocks.
The Trek
In order to experience the thrilling trek to the Tada
falls, one has to first reach the base camp of the trek, from where the total
distance of getting to the falls and coming down is about 10 km, with about 4
km of rocky trek in between. After climbing for 150 m or so, you will have to
cross a small stream flowing down from the hill.
Do not plunge your shoes into
the water as it will become tough to trek with wet shoes. After crossing this
small stream, the route will take you to a muddy path. You got to follow this
muddy pathway which will climb up at one point and then slope downwards.
After walking for a while along this muddy path, you will
again come across another small stream. After crossing this second stream, you
will reach a Shiva Temple, which is the last place on this route where you can
comfortably seat and have your lunch.
After this point there is no proper pathway
and you have to depend on the path shown by the people living around this Shiva
temple. After following the route shown by the people, you will come across a
stream close to which there is a small clearing that will lead you towards your
journey beyond.
Form this point onwards,
the trek becomes quite difficult as you have to walk on rocks which are quite
slippery and at times you have to climb over pretty big rocks. The entire climb
along the rock pathway before you reach the falls is about 10 ft. Generally
there are two falls at this spot during the monsoon season, but you will find
only one fall during the peak summer season before the commencement of
monsoons.
The lovely sight of falls will drench all your tiredness that
you have felt due to the trek to this place. It is a perfect place to click
