Trekking the Heights of Gods Own Country Kerala

Trekking around the site of Wayanad during the month of monsoon season has a different taste altogether
because after the height of busy schedule a trip like this which covers the line of mesmerizing Wayanad, Chembra peak, a visit to the Meenmutty Falls  and Edakkal Caves calls for a brilliant experience of life.

Good numbers of friends we all planned and consequently assembled at bus station of Shantala silks and it was I guess 10 pm when we drove ahead to merge with our destination. Since we had a plan to halt near Bandipur forest entrance and with that we travelled all the way to Wayanad.

Moment we were off the hook the entire interesting thing began to happen at first we started with intro session where we got to know our fellow company and talked all the way together as most of us were known to each other and each of us made sure that we are in comfort zone.

At 6 Am we made our way from Bandipur forest stretch as the meadows and the fresh environment really touched our sense and all of us were happy and enthusiastic.  Our next stop was the Adarsh Hotel at Kalpetta where we had a plan to loosen up a bit before continuing with the trip and once we were done with it we got back into bus and sang our way to Chembra hills which was our first mark.

Our way towards our first mark was mesmerizing as adulating hills and thick greenery really captured our mind and all we could say was awesome. As bus stopped there to get permit to trek, all of us shared some delightful moment while engaging our self in photography and once they we were good with the situation we drove to Lighthouse our trekking base.

From lighthouse we commence our journey to the real height of Chembra peak at 10 pm. All of us at once stared our walk and at one point of time many of us really worn out as the steep hills really got us breaking our way but we did not gave up and met with the beautiful heart shaped lake where all of us heaved a sigh of relief.

We could feel the moderate and mild weather which really set the environment to get romantic and all of us relished the moment by clicking photos as the gentle drizzles really cop up with our mood and the natural sight really complimented the wonders of Heart Shape Lake.

Once we were done relaxing, again started our trip but many of our friends were pretty unfortunate as they could not make their way to the heights and decided to settle within the area of the lake but we made our way to the height and conquer the Chembra peak from where we witnessed the splendour of the surroundings.

Together with a bigger group we again marched our way after enjoying the charm of the site. Between our paths we witnessed quite a few falls and somehow reached the base of the hills where we all felt the weariness and tired notion.

So to encourage our fellow friends we stopped at tea stall sipped cup of blend and played Dumb Charades before we enter our home stay by bus.

D’Silvas Home Stay at Sulthan Bethary where we were accompanied by hospitable owners of the stay was quiet distance away from the base of the hills. As I was completely tired so after having Dinner I rushed to bed to take a nap but other was quite busy in performing nocturnal activity.

It was a brilliant morning where we all had our breakfast and delicious mangoes which were plucked from the fresh trees MG_0501 in the garden, and walked our way to Meenmutty Falls which is the largest waterfall in Wayanad. Once we reached the site we were asked to leave the plastic materials by authorities to avoid pollution and once we disposed it we were set to mark our way through the thick jungle.

Since most of the rocks were very slippery so we continuously stringed with rope to slip down safely from the fall. As we closed down the site the view we came across was just glorious. After enjoying some moment there we again started to climb up the hills and reached the point where we initiated our journey.

After having lunch we got into bus and arrived for Edakkal Caves. While we had to reach the caves before 4 Pm so we started early and reached the caves before the deadline. 3 km hike really got my heart on my mouth but once I enter the side all I felt was glory as the historical site dates back its chronology to 6000 B.C.

As we were done with our trip within the ambiance of Kerala we backed our way to our city Bangalore at around 6 Pm and crossed the Bandipur entrance before 9 PM. While we were heading to our home we stopped at Mysore and stayed there for dinner before driving ahead.

As we reached Bangalore in 4.30 Am all of us dispersed to their respective site and me alone wondered will I ever get another opportunity to hike the beauty of Gods own country Kerala.
